Want to try acupuncture but are afraid of needles?

Most people are afraid of needles for the one reason is that it hurts. For anyone who has had a blood test or been to the dentist, yes it can hurt as the needle is penetrating the skin which is protecting our bodies. Some will even avoid going for a blood test or the dentist for this reason.

Now should you avoid going to an acupuncturist because of the same reasons? Let's talk about some facts if you have not tried acupuncture before:

Is it Painful?

Modern technology has created super smooth and fine acupuncture needles. In most cases there is no pain or it only lasts for a second. Other patient’s report experiencing a dull sensation, however this disappears within a few seconds.

Are they thick like the doctor uses?

Acupuncture needles are flexible, hair-like in diameter. Thinner than sewing needle or pin.

Can I move or am I trapped?

Due to the needle’s design and thinness, they are flexible. This allows a person some minimal movement depending on the treating area.

Are they clean?

Yes. Needles are sterilised in their own packaging, and are for only single-use.

Still not convinced?

If you're still not convinced, there are other Chinese medicine techniques that your practitioner can use such as cupping, moxibustion, acupressure, herbs, or auricular acupuncture (using ear seeds instead of needles).

Don't let your fear of needles hold you back from trying acupuncture.

Come and see me to discuss your concerns and ways I can assist you in to achieve your health goals.
