Pregnancy is a natural part of life for some women, however not all women go through pregnancy smoothly.

Morning sickness

Morning sickness is experienced by pregnant women usually in the 1st trimester of pregnancy and disappears for many by 14 weeks into their pregnancy, however some women experience it for longer.

Morning sickness can range from being a mild nausea feeling throughout the day, to experiencing some nausea, to severe all-day vomiting. Studies have shown that acupuncture has had a positive effect in treating nausea and vomiting in post chemotherapy and post-operative situations. However, there are still not enough studies as prove that acupuncture has a positive effect for pregnancy related nausea.

Labour inductions

Only 5% of babies are born on their due date. Many medical practitioners begin to have discussions with women around medical induction if the pregnancy goes beyond 41 weeks, or there are other complications that they are concerned about.

Medical inductions can begin with a stretch and sweep, prostaglandin gels, or oxytocin drips.

I have spent years working with women throughout their whole pregnancies. Women can either lay on their backs, or sides, depending on how far along they are, and what is most comfortable for their bodies during treatments.
